Mission Statement

Our mission is to unify the Shearing Contractors of New Zealand by providing relevant, timely, practical information that affects their businesses in a cost efficient way.

We aim to be a voice for the industry in appropriate arenas, advocating sensibly to governance bodies and assisting in relevant industry initiatives, industry training and utilizing our leverage as a body to the benefit of our members.


To achieve our mission we strive to:

  • Bring the Shearing Contractors of New Zealand together to create unity and understanding within our industry,
  • Negotiate and communicate with all entities that affect our business.
  • Keep our Members fully informed on all current issues that may benefit them.
  • Provide sound, practical, professional advice.
  • Maintain a network of contacts and mentors throughout New Zealand.
  • Enable each individual member participate in the benefits of a strong group of like minded employers

  • Hurry!! The annual NZSCA Conference and AGM is being held 17-18th of May 2017 at Queenstown.  Members and those wanting to join the Association are encouraged to also join in at the half day workshop being held on Tuesday afternoon (16th May) focusing on changes in employment and holiday pay law.  Present will be Employment Lawyer Jills Angus-Burney and Mellissa McRury from MBIE.  Please contact us to register.  Secretary Cheryl Christie 027 263 7634.

Te Ako Wools hits 400!

There are now 400 trainees in training with the Primary ITO and Te Ako Wools are well on the way to this year’s target of 600.

The Te Ako Wools website will be live very soon and the Te Ako team will be presenting on Te Ako’s new training initiatives at the May Conference in Queenstown 17-18th May.
